Saturday - FEBRUARY 27 - Day Six
Today the weather was PERFECT! No rain, no snow and no gusts of wind over 20+mph. The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze. I was joined by some other folks to include my friend Tyler from the Troop.  The route was winding hills and one big long, gradual hill that seemed to go on forever but at least it wasn't  too steep. Right before the end I found my first micro geocache. It had a good hint, but was still tricky. I think we have two caches on the route tomorrow and six each of the last few days. I will start looking for the right location for placing my Trek 4 Nets commemorative cache. I'm having a great time and looking forward to the end now that I'm about 2/3 of the way finished.
Sunday - FEBRUARY 28 - Day Seven
Today we got a very early start at 7am (compared to 9am every other day). It was a cold day but I think cold days are the best days for hiking because I  don't get very sweaty.  We were invited  to attend service at Flat Branch Presbyterian Church which was on today's route. The only trouble was that they are located about 9 miles down the road and we needed to be there before the 11am service! Either I am getting pretty good at this hiking thing or am just anxious to be finished, but my pace has really picked up the last few days. My Scoutmaster Tom Archer joined us as well. The service was very nice and everyone there was so supportive and welcoming that it totally made my day. Roberta, who coordinated a soup lunch after the service, makes the very best clam chowder in the whole world. I don't know all the other folks who prepared a soup or a dessert, but it was amazing! I shared my project with them and MANY people donated. Before we left this afternoon we counted enough to purchase 34 more nets! WOW! Thank You Flat Branch Presbyterian! I finished off my last 3 miles for the day by around 2pm. I'm tired.
Monday - MARCH 1 - Day Eight
Well it's really great to be finished with Day 8 because that means there is only one day left. Unfortunately the weather might not be so great but I have dealt with that kind of thing already in the Trek so no big deal I guess. Today the weather was great though. The breeze was a little cool when we stopped for a break but the sun was shining the whole time. I did quite a bit of geocaching today which made kind of a boring route more interesting. I had some help from a store owner on one, but it was VERY tricky and cool to find. I'm getting pretty good at micros now. I'm still considering where to place my commemorative Trek 4 Nets Cache but I have a few ideas. I'm tired but no blisters and looking forward to tomorrow. I miss my dog and can't wait to play with her tomorrow night! She's been hanging out at Fayetteville Pet Resort for the last few days. She always likes it there and the folks are really good to her.
Tuesday - MARCH 2 - Day Nine
The forecast for today, the last day of my 100 mile Trek, was terrible. Rain, snow, cold....yuck. There were even big gusts of wind sometimes. We have had about every kind of weather this past week and a half so no matter what happened, I knew we could handle it. Would have been nice to have good weather for the final day though. I think more folks would have come out to meet us at the end. I completely understand though. :-) It was SO GREAT to be joined by some of the guys from my Troop and from the Webelos Den where I am Den Chief! My dad even drove here from SC to walk the final miles! I was so surprised when I suddenly noticed a Carolina News 14 camera on the sidewalk too! I consider the Trek part of Trek 4 Nets to be a huge success and hope the funraising continues to go as well as it has so far until I reach  my goal of 1,000 nets!
